The Underground Mosque of Sultan-epe is dated by scholars to the 9th–13th centuries. It was built in a cavity between limestone layers and consists of nine chambers. The entrance is equipped with a steep staircase made of rough stone slabs.
Next to the mosque lies the canyon of the same name, the only coastal canyon in the region. Just 6 meters from the cliff stands a well with drinking water, which, according to locals, has healing properties.
Near the mosque is the Sultan-epe necropolis. On the graves, one can often see poles with pieces of cloth tied to them, symbolizing requests for intercession.
