Khanga-Baba

Khanga-Baba is an ancient necropolis in the Mangystau region of Kazakhstan, located near the old caravan route from the Caspian Sea to Khwarezm. It is named after the Turkmen saint Khanga-Baba.

The necropolis consists of three parts: Turkmen, Kazakh, and exclusively Turkmen monuments. The Turkmen monuments include depictions of sabers and Quranic verses, while the Kazakh monuments are decorated with geometric ornaments. In the central part stand the ruins of a portal-domed mausoleum and a mosque.
