Kapamsay Canyon

Kapamsay Canyon is a narrow gorge with high rocky walls formed by wind and water erosion. The canyon slopes are very steep, and its depth exceeds 70 meters.

The gorge is about 2.7 km long, with an average width of 140 meters. Its cream-gray, and sometimes bright white, walls rise to several dozen meters in height.

At the bottom of the canyon, there once flowed a long, narrow, and deep river that has since dried up. Thanks to the shade, a small oasis has formed among the rocks, remaining green even during the hottest summer heat.

Above the canyon, one can see eagles soaring in the sky, their nests hidden in the rock crevices. The canyon was named after the great batyr (warrior) Kapam. According to legend, several centuries ago, the batyr Kapam lived in this area, renowned for his great strength and his merits among the people.
